Team Meeting - 18/02/2011

Myself, Nick and Simon, have finished our research on drama's, which mostly cover horror, thriller and crime.
This lesson, we shall be planning our Media Studies Film Intro. Trying to create a scenario, script and maybe start the storyboard.

Basic Plot:
Interegation, with Flashbacks of the scene and the past, of the story being told, including objects such as: Blood, Body, Crime, Weapon, Photographs, Toys, etc.
The Interegation shall have questions, maybe loud and aggressive, but also forward towards the victim.
  • 1 or 2 Detectives (Interviewers)
  • 1 Victim (Interviewee)

The final outcome will have a 3 minute introuction to a full length feature film, containing an insight to the rest of the film. It will have the detective(s) talking to the victim, asking questions, having the victim quiet, simple, scared and unfased by the detectives.

We'll just have to see how things turn out :)

Final Preliminary Task

This is the final practical pruduction video, it has been cut in a sequence in which the lecturer and exam board wanted, and covered all the required elements for this production.

Including:
  • Richard McCulloch (Door Man)
  • Nick Wills (Table Man)
  • Simon Rawrlings (Camera Man)
Equipment:
  • Recording Camera
  • Tripod
  • Final Cut Express
  • Clothes (Optional)

Locataion
  • College Grounds
The Preliminary Task video attempted to cover everything needed and required for the filming material.
The expected result was having a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom he exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.

The effects used during our filming included:
  • Shot/Reverse Shot - During the conversation between two people.
  • 180 Degree Rule - When filming two actors keep camera one side of an imaginary line.
  • Match on Match action - The cut from one shot to another should be smooth and continue the action being filmed.
We managed to successfully complete all the required tasks, although filming outdoors, we completed the task, showing our capabilities.

Planning of Preliminary Task

Hey all,
During this lesson of Media Studies, we had to produce, film and edit a 15-30 second clip of evidence, displaying how we use various effects and camera angles to display a short clip which runs fluently and fits together to produce a full, final teaser.

The areas which we're going to cover include:
  • Reverse Shot: During a conversation between two people.
  • 180 Degree Rule: When filming two actors, keeping the camera on one side of an imaginary line.
  • Match on Match Action: The cut from one shot to another should be smooth and continue the action being filmed.
Script
Action: Rich walks out the door, shooting the opening of the short clip, displaying the door opening and closing, close-ups and displaying editing techniques which will be applied later.
Action: Rich sits down on the bench.
Rich: You alright mate?
Nick: Alright gorgeous, what you upto tonight?
Rich: Nothing really babe, fancy coming to mine later?
Nick: Go on then, I'm always up for a good time.
Rich: Alright, cool! Si's in his car, let's go!
Action: Rich and Nick stands up and walk off towards the car park.

Within the given time period, Myself, Nick and Simon, managed to film the required clip from various angles, and we're ready to produce the required clip displaying the requirements requested.

And now, I just realised I didn't have to right this up, great!
Cya guys! xx
